Maccher Matha Diye Bandhakopi. (Cabbage with Fish head)





 

Ingredients

  1. 1 fish head ( Rohu or Catla cut into two halves)
  2. 1  cabbage finely chopped
  3. 1 medium potatoes cut into cubes
  4. 1 tomato and 1/2 carrot coarsely chopped
  5. 1 tbsp ginger paste
  6. 1 tsp. garlic paste
  7. 1 tbsp coriander powder
  8. 1 tsp. cumin powder
  9. 1tbsp chili powder ( you can increase or decrease the amount depending on your spice level)
  10. 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  11. 1 tsp. panch foron
  12. 2  bay leaf
  13. Salt
  14. Sugar
  15. 1 t spoon Garam Masala
  16. Mustard oil
METHOD

Clean and wash the fish head. Rub salt and turmeric powder to it. Keep it for five mins.
In a pan  heat oil . Now add the fish head and fry it on a medium heat.
Heat some oil in the pan and temper it with cumin seeds and bay leaf.
Once the spices pop up add  potato cubes and fried fish head followed by ginger garlic paste and sauté on low heat for 2-3 minutes.
Now add chopped tomato along with coriander, cumin, chili and turmeric powder. . 
Add chopped cabbage to it. add salt and & little bit of sugar.
Cook it covered on medium heat till the cabbage becomes soft.

This dish will be little dry. Once done remove  the pan from heat and sprinkle garam masala powder.
